Asterisk

My first quilt block made from a fat quarter and some Kona solid fabric. Stitching with a quarter inch seam, cutting triangles, nesting and pressing to the dark were all learnt on this pretty block!

Homemade Marshmallows

Store bought marshmallows aren't anywhere close to how good homemade marshmallows are. These are fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and are super easy to make! I find that two things are indispensable to making these - a candy thermometer and a mixer with a whisk attachment. The candy thermometer takes the guess-work out of how much to cook the sugar mixture, and the mixer does the magic of turning it into cloud-like satiny goodness.
I adapted Alton Brown's recipe to make this, substituting butterscotch flavoring for the vanilla.

Plan of Action

I started this blog as a repository of my quilting/cooking/baking/sewing/crafting ventures.  Blog title? Self-explanatory, eh?
My want to do list:
1. Quilting! Little did I realize when I made baby Andres a quilt on a whim, that I would be bitten by the quilting bug.
2. Make all those bazillion recipes I have bookmarked, scribbled, torn out of magazines.
3. Knit and crochet down my yarn stash. That way, I won’t feel guilty buying more yarn.
4. Sew myself a new wardrobe. This may be a little bit of wishful thinking since I really don't know to sew anything, but never say never! Who knows what else might catch my fancy!

Yay me! :)
